Lisa
I am so delighted to join the team at LUPUS UK!! I have worked within the charity sector as a fundraiser for many years and when I realised that LUPUS UK were advertising for this role, I didn’t think twice before applying. I have now been here for just under 1 week and already I have been able to see how wonderful this charity is and how important it is for so many people living with lupus in our community and the team are so welcoming and kind. I have just recently left a role as a fundraising manager at a local hospice and I also currently work part time as a family support worker, for a small children’s cancer charity and in my spare time when I’m not spending time with my husband and 2 children, I also volunteer for another smaller charity SOB’s.
I guess the charity life chose me, and I absolutely love it!!
I will be taking over from the lovely Janine who is set to retire at the end of October, after working for LUPUS UK for the last 30 years and I understand I have big, AMAZING shoes to fill .. I am genuinely excited to get started and can’t wait to speak to as many of you as possible, with regards to all things fundraising for our incredibly important cause. If you would like to raise funds for LUPUS UK please get in touch, I love a good chat more than anything and I will do everything I can to make sure you have all the support you need to get started!
Maryam
Hello everyone! My name is Maryam, and I have recently joined LUPUS UK as the new Health Information Officer. I have a background in medicine and have worked in Oncology for a few years. While working in medicine, I also collaborated with local charities. During this period, I became increasingly aware of the health inequalities that patients face within the medical system. This realization sparked a deep passion for patient advocacy. My experience also made me realize the importance of health information and its impact on health literacy and, in turn, the health of the general population. Subsequently, I pursued a Master of Public Health to gain a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the field of public health. After completing my MPH, I worked in an administrative role within the NHS, where I continued to build on my understanding of healthcare and its complexities. When I came across the job advert for this position at LUPUS UK, it felt like a perfect match for my future goals and aspirations.
I’m genuinely grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received. Everyone has been incredibly kind and supportive, making my transition into this role smooth and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to working closely with the LUPUS UK team, learning from such a talented group of people, and contributing to our shared mission of supporting those affected by lupus.
